Furlesque goes to the movies – “500 Days of Summer”

Dion, one of the artists behind Furlesque, worked on that new movie “500 Days of Summer” (featuring Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt).  I haven’t seen it – but it is was a selection at Sundance and looks kinda quirky and interesting – - so I may. Dion worked on the art used in one of the special effects in the movie – interesting shot of downtown LA that fades into his matching achitectural drawings which then disappear – kinda cool – check it out in the trailer at about 37 seconds – he tells me it took 55 drawings to get this effect…..ouch….no wonder movies are so expensive to make. If you happen to be into film and the technical end – cool Q & A here with the editors.

Update: saw the movie this weekend – it was fun – a little flat in the beginning – but all the interesting visuals and great soundtrack make it very watchable.  Dion’s work is on the big scene right in the middle – definitely a cool effect!
